Musical Theater

Musical Theater Wing

Mission Statement

The Musical Theater Wing’s (MTW) mission is much the same as the WorkShop Theater Company’s overall mission, to take plays, and now musicals, from the ground up. For the
past couple of years, we have offered a place for member and non-member writers to hone their musicals in a constructive ‘lab’ inspired environment. With our monthly writer’s workshops, our bi-monthly staged reading series, our special events, and benefits; we guide, encourage, support, and ultimately honor new and seasoned composers, lyricists, and book writers.
In addition, we offer ongoing classes, one for singers and actors to work on material for auditions, The Musical Theater GYM, as well as libretto writing courses, taught by guest
mentor and author, David Spencer. All in all, we are striving to give ‘new voice’ to a musical
theater world and inspire the theatrical community to take more chances on original works.
We look forward to offering more programming in the future, and to building our audiences.
