Please help us meet our 2013 Challenge Grant!
The WorkShop Thanks Its Supporters!
Thanks for visiting our donations page.
We here at the WorkShop Theater (a not-for-profit Off-Off Broadway company) are very proud of our company, and we'd like to tell you a little bit about why.
In the past year and a half, WorkShop Theater has been honored with two Drama Desk nominations, two New York Innovative Theater Awards (plus ten additional nominations) and two New York Times Critics' Pick citations.
Our two stages are among the busiest in town. The next few months will feature Daniel Damiano's The Golden Year, a funny, timely and poignant new play about a Long Island couple facing surprising challenges in their first year of retirement; the Will-A-Thon, our annual celebration of Shakespeare's birthday, now in its 10th year; a return engagement of the critically acclaimed Lizzie Borden at Eight O'Clock; free staged readings of new plays; our Spring Short Play Festival, YOU ARE HERE!; late night vaudeville and much more. We also provide a valuable service by offering reasonable rentals to other theater companies not fortunate enough to have their own performance spaces.
For our some 150 Company Artists, a terrifically eclectic and talented group of playwrights, actors, directors and composers, the WorkShop is a cherished artistic home. Our company employs a finely honed dramatic process to bring our work to life and a place where our work may be seen.
Keeping our doors open, however, is a constant challenge - rent alone is over $7,000 a month and there's never a nickel to spare. As a developmental theater, we are limited to a top ticket price of only $18, and much of what we do is free to the general public. We survive because Company Artists work for little or no pay, because we operate on a shoestring production budget and because of the MAGNANIMOUS SUPPORT OF FRIENDS LIKE YOU!
Our contributions goal for this year is:
$98,500
As of March 28, 2013, we're quite fortunate to have a magnificent Challenge Grant from an anonymous patron, who will match every dollar, up to $20,000, that we raise over last year's total - potentially an additional $40,000 in much needed funds.
To meet this challenge, each Company Artist has made a personal commitment to raise as much as s/he can. We would be very grateful if you could help us by making a tax-deductible gift of any amount. To make a donation, please click the "Donate" button on this web page.
It's that simple! Your donation will help keep our artistic home alive and thriving.
To make an easy, online donation by credit card, please click the Donate Now button to the right..
Please note that your account for ticketing and donations (with our vendor, TheaterMania/ovationtix) is separate from any account you may have on workshoptheater.org and will require a separately maintained username and password.
Thank you very much for your support.
