Will's Playshop

Instruction By:
Charles E. Gerber, Director of Classical Theater

This unique approach to exploring the practical, professional, and spiritual joys that can be derived from one of the greatest mind/souls in human history, for each individual, and the collective body of the class.

All classes at The WorkShop Theater Company, 312 West 36th Street, New York, NY -- 4th floor.

The winter/spring series concludes with 6 nights of performances by the class in the WorkShop's annual Will-A-Thon, taking place the third week of April, 2010.

Timorous of Will Shakespeare? Be not afraid! The fall session is in a more experimental LAB mode. What People Are Saying:

The best recommendation I can give for Charles and "Will's Way" is to say that I had one of the most important breakthroughs of my career while working with him, that no doubt, led to my being accepted into The Shakespeare Theatre Company's Academy for Classical Acting at G. W. University. Charles' method as an acting teacher can be found in the name he chose for his class. Shakespeare's text gives all the clues an actor needs to fully realize his characters, and Charles simply leads the actors to the clues. He has an immense knowledge, an infectious enthusiasm for the craft of acting, and a love for actors themselves. - Britton Herring

Charles possesses such an enthusiasm for Shakespeare that if you can inherit even 1/10th of its power, it will serve you well. - Jennifer Kathryn Marshall.

Charles has such a vast knowledge of theatre history and of Shakespeare, it's a pleasure to soak some of it in. - Ron Crawford.

The class helps actors embrace the brilliance that is already on the page. - Benjamin Sumrall.

The class attention to detail in the text has not only expanded my knowledge of how to approach Shakespeare, but also other classics, and even new and modern texts. - Alexandra Devin.

Will's PlayShop is a very supportive environment. Charles enthusiastically leads with his entire bag of tricks...impossible to leave without learning. - Marta Reiman.

My work has grown tremendously by the tutelage, guidance, and camaraderie that I get from Will's PlayShop....just booked a new original regional production because of the ability to analyze a script using the same techniques I use on Othello, or Much Ado. - Sandy Moore.

Charles is terrific, ergo the class is quite wonderful. His teaching method is very supportive and you're never made to feel under the gun. GO, YOU'LL LIKE IT! - Stewart Steinberg.

Charles generously gives us his knowledge. Though I have an extensive background in the classics and Shakespeare, when I listen to him, I realize that I have so much more to learn. - Letty Ferrer.

I grew up on Shakespeare, but three years of study in the PlayShop has given me a deeper appreciation for the written word.....the works of MANY playwrights. It has sharpened my interpretive skills and helped me rediscover a joy in acting I have not known for sometime. That's what the PlayShop has done for me. - David M. Mead.

"The "rest is silence" - Hamlet.
