Tom loves Oliver, and Oliver loves Tom. As he falls to his death, this is all Tom can seem to remember. Don't Laugh. It's Funny. traces the relationship between two men as they learn from each other, about each other, and challenge the way we view living with a mental illness.

Project Dramaturg - Phoebe Corde


Nate Foster is a New York City-based Playwright, Performer, and Dramaturg. He is a 2017 Kennedy Center New Play Dramaturgy Fellow, 2018 ASTEP Artist as Citizens Fellow, a 2018 Cape Cod Theatre Project New Play Development Fellow and a 2019 New Play Development Apprentice at The Public Theater. He was a member of The Workshop Theatre's Winter//Spring 2020 writers intensive. He was a 2020-2021 ArtHouse Inkubator Playwright and a 2021 resident playwright at The Strides Collective. He was the recipient of the 2018 Kennedy Center Ken Ludwig Young Playwright Award. He served as an associate producer for Loading Dock Theatre’s 2020 Forklift season and as an associate producer for Black Lives, Black Words 2020 Plays for the People series. His plays have been seen or developed at The Kennedy Center, The Workshop Theatre, New York Theatre Festival, The Brick, Permafrost Theatre, Fort Collins Fringe Festival, Southern Utah University, Pharmacy Theatre, Mirrobox Theatre, The Strides Collective, Live and in Color, The Hollywood Fringe Festival, and The Tank.

E.B. Hinnant is an actor, songwriter, and filmmaker from South Carolina. You can find his music anywhere online under the name “Fripp”. He’s making a movie this Summer called “God’s Glove”! Talk to him about fungi, fried okra, and Dolly Parton.

Phoebe Corde is a dramaturg and writer specializing in stories of the strange, magical, and otherworldly. She is currently Resident Dramaturg at The Civilians, where she is director of their artistic development group, the R&D Group, and is a member of the creative board of directors at Off-Brand Opera. Her dramaturgical work has been seen on Broadway and Off-Broadway stages, including The Public Theater, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Ensemble Studio Theatre, and 59E59.
